Mill Cities Relay Meeting

Club National, Nashua

 

Present:  Dave Camire, Dave LaBrode, Chip Mann, Tom Raiche, Steve Grande, Marshall McCloskey, Rosa Tejada, Dave Sullivan, Sharon Yu

 

  1. Tom will book the YMCA in Nashua and arrange for 2 portajohns.

 

  1. Dave C. will take care of the Voke School and let city of Lowell know about the race.

 

  1. The Elks hall has been booked and deposit made.

 

  1. Dave L. will check with Griffin Park and the Methuen police.

 

  1. Giveaways this year are gloves, light gray, with “Mill Cities Relay” in red ink.  Dave L. is obtaining 700 pairs at $1.00-1.50 pr.

 

  1. Marty Cardoza will be the contact for the Elks.

 

  1. Dave C. will contact Jackie Sullivan regarding doing the cooking.

 

  1. Marshall gave a detailed handout with complete inventory of clothing and merchandise for sale.

 

  1. It was decided to budget $500.00 for gifts for the relay committee and club presidents.  Marshall will check the price of athletic bags.

 

  1. An attempt will be made to contact Coastal Athletic Club; they are participating for the first time this year.

 

  1. MVS will supply volunteers to help Jackie Sullivan with the cooking.

 

  1. The bib numbers this year are free, thanks to New Balance.

 

  1. A review of the course assignments was discussed, beginning with the Y and going over the entire course.  This remained basically the same as last year.

 

  1. The turn onto the bike path is gated; runners will be directed down the old path just prior to the gate.

 

  1. Dave L. will be Master of Ceremonies.

 

  1. The person who nominated the winner will make the Phil Quinn presentation.

 

  1. It was agreed to accept a Coed Seniors Team, 5 legs, 2 females, 3 males, and the team will count in scoring.  This is the 11th category.

 

  1. There is a noon time limit (4 hrs) on the course.  This will be put on the web page to make people aware.  Anyone waiting at the final handoff at 11:00 AM will be sent off to the finish and his or her times will be handicapped.  This was decided for the safety of the volunteers and runners.

 

  1. Phil Quinn award nominations are needed at the next meeting.

 

  1. Next year will be the 20th Mill Cities Relay.  Everyone will get a Mill Cities singlet and a brick.  Warren Church and Jane Levesque have run every relay.

 

  1. Moose Milers running club requested entry and it was decided to wait until next year before making a decision to accept a new club.

 

  1. The next meeting will be at Gilly’s, Thursday, October 24th at 7:00PM
