27 NOVEMBER 2006 MILL CITIES RELAY MEETING AT GIL’S GROCERY
STORE, TOPSFIELD

- A
picture of the giveaway: a medal/bottle opener/key chain was passed
around.
- The
Phil Quinn award post card was passed around. These were to be placed on each table at the Claddagh. A poster of Steve Burton will be hung
on the stage. Nancy Given will
accept the award.
- Logistics
were reviewed in great detail. The
venue, food, drink, paper goods, merchandise being offered for sale,
website, DJ, bricks/awards, YMCA, portapotties, batons, Sunshine Start,
number pick up, start/finish, timing, course check morning of race, police
details in Lawrence, Methuen and Hudson, course marking, insurance
certificate were all discussed. It
was decided to add 2 portajohns to the Greater Lowell Vo-Tech exchange
area, that one person, presumably the team captain pick up the baton and
giveaway and that no grievances would be heard after Saturday, 12/2.
- The
Methuen Police have upped their fee to $80.00 per hour, minimum 4
hours.
- Jackie
will have much help from the Claddagh staff this year with the food and
cooking.
- All 5
legs and each exchange zone were discussed in great detail, with each club
confirming coverage of their responsibilities.
- The
finish line was reviewed and discussed in detail regarding safety issues.
- It was
agreed that 500 beer tickets would be sold for $2.00 apiece, with a limit
to 2 tickets per person at a time and these would go on sale at noon.
- In the
event of snow, any update would have been made on the website.
- Dave
C. is phasing out his “run” as commissioner of the event and Matt Germain
will be assuming responsibility eventually. Matt will be the assistant commissioner next year.
- The
USAT&F rule was discussed and it was felt by the board to be an
appropriate rule and will stay in place.
- Next
meeting to be announced next year.
